FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Reveal Music Video For New Single “Primal” From Forthcoming New Album “I Am The Weapon”

Veteran Arizona thrashers Flotsam And Jetsam have revealed the second single and music video from their upcoming, 15th studio album “I Am The Weapon”, which will arrive on September 13, 2024 via AFM Records. Following the previously-released, first single and title track, today we are treated to the official music video for “Primal”, which can be seen below. 

Talking about the track, the band shares: “We’re very excited to once again unleash Flotzilla onto the metal community! This time, he’ll take the form of our newest single, “Primal.” With “Primal,” we tried to capture the “punch in the face” energy that Flotsam And Jetsam are known for, and blend it with a melody that sticks in your head for days… we hope our fans will embrace it, as we are very pleased with how this song and the new record has turned out, and we look forward to seeing you all very soon!”

    It’s been almost 40 years since Flotsam And Jetsam, formed in Phoenix, Arizona released their landmark debut, “Doomsday for the Deceiver,” the only album to ever receive a 6K rating from the influential British magazine Kerrang! Bassist Jason Newsted would jump ship to Metallica while the band released the unstoppable “No Place for Disgrace” in 1988. “Cuatro” (1992), “Drift” (1995), “High” (1997), and “My God” (2001) all still rank extremely high in heavy metal circles. But it was the first part of this unofficial trilogy in 2016’s self-titled “Flotsam and Jetsam” that a certain rejuvenation and reset was clearly felt.

    Fast-forward five years to a planet that was forced to its knees. While spending most of the pandemic times in a holding pattern like the rest of the world, Flotsam And Jetsam made the best of a struggling situation and just let those creative juices and angst flow. What emerged was the much-acclaimed “Blood in the Water”, released in 2021 via AFM Records. Aside from busy touring schedules (find all current & upcoming live dates HERE), this September will see mighty Flotsam And Jetsam return with their thunderous, new studio album “I Am The Weapon”.

    FLOTSAM AND JETSAM To Play Summer Breeze Brazil

    The first Brazilian edition of the German festival Summer Breeze Open Air was held on the 29th and 30th of April 2023 at the Memorial da América Latina (SP), with more than 40 bands and four stages, the festival is already included in the official events calendar of São Paulo City Hall.

    AFM RECORDS has announced today the release their “25 Years Metal Addiction – The Rare & The Unreleased” album on 29th October. As the title suggests, only songs have been taken into account that were previously unpublished, came as bonus material from country-exclusive editions (e.g. Japanese pressings) or were previously only available digitally. For the occasion the label has chosen to include our song “Life, Love, Death,” previously only available as a Japanese bonus track for “The End Of Chaos” album.

    FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Announces North America “Brace For Impact Summer Tour 2021”

    Arizona thrash and speed metal icons FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have revealed a short run of tour dates for North America during August of this year. Dubbed the “Brace For Impact Summer Tour 2021” the trek begins on August 17th at Albuquerque, New Mexico and wraps on August 28th in Mesa, Arizona. Find the full itinerary below.

    The band recently released their unanimously lauded studio album “Blood In The Water”.     FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Reveals Music Video for “Burn the Sky”, Relentless First Single from Upcoming Album “Blood in the Water”

    Legendary thrash metallers FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have unveiled the first single of their upcoming studio album “Blood in the Water” via the official music video for the pummeling track “Burn the Sky” which can be watched below.

    “While we were in the process of selecting which songs we would use for the album’s videos, ‘Burn the Sky’ was the only one that was on everyone’s lists consistently” – commented front-man Eric A.K. during a full-band video interview aired this past Friday via Bravewords and Sonic Perspectives – “This track has some guitar work by Mike and Steve that are second to none.”

    “We really had a hell of a time figuring out which songs actually include in this album, because we don’t feel we have any fillers” – added guitarist Michael Gilbert. When asked about why the band’s sound have evolved throughout the last albums to a much heavier output, he said:  “I don’t want anyone feeling we are getting fuck**g old. As long as we continue doing this, we are gonna bring it. Our sound changed through the years influenced by many factors, but what you are listening to now is who we are and will continue to be”

    “The recording of this album was very much a natural process, we really worked together as a team to make sure that everything that needed to be on the record, was indeed on it. I haven’t listened to it for a while and I went back and listened recently, and it really gives the impression that we are really angry” commented drummer Ken Mary.

    FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Welcome BILL BODILY (CONTRARIAN, INHUMATUS, TOXIK) As New Bass Player, Upcoming Studio Album Nearly Completed

    Arizona thrash metal long-runners FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have announced Bill Bodily (CONTRARIAN, ex-INHUMATUS, ex-TOXIK) as the band’s new bass player. Before joining FLOTSAM AND JETSAM on a permanent basis, Bodily filled in for former bassist Michael Spencer during many shows of the band’s “Tour of Chaos” in 2019.

    Commented Bodily, “Joining FLOTSAM AND JETSAM is an honor as well as a huge step up in my musical journey. I’ve been friends with the guys for many years, and I’m a lifelong FLOTSAM fan. I look forward to the many adventures ahead and getting more acquainted with the legendary Flotzilla fans!”

    The band added, “First and foremost, we would like to thank Michael Spencer for his time in FLOTSAM AND JETSAM. He joined us back in 2014, and we have accomplished so much together.     Veteran Arizona thrashers Flotsam and Jetsam have officially announced the new dates for their “Demolition of North America,” trek which had to be cancelled due to the ongoing situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. The new set of dates will begin at Club Red, Tempe, Arizona on April 30th and will conclude on June 6th at Brick by Brick, San Diego, California. A trailer for the tour can be seen below.

    FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Launch Website & Online Store

    “Flotzilla fans!

    We are very excited to announce the launch of our newly designed website and online store, now located at www.flotstildeath.com. After several months of hard work and dedication, we are delighted to bring it up for you starting today.

    First and foremost we want to say thanks for you confidence and support to the band throughout the years. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for dedicated fans like you. We have envisioned this page as the one-stop place for all things Flotsam and Jetsam, where you will be able to gather upcoming exclusive content, the latest news, and more. We wanted to make the new website faster, easier to navigate, and more user-friendly.

    Among the new features the site contains a dedicated discography page, with lyrics for all our studio releases, and tons of details of each album. And there’s also an newly designed online store, where you can purchase our tees and CDs, and we will be adding more products gradually. Please take 5 minutes of your time and check it out, and help us to spread the news among the metal community.

    We have the best fans a band can hope for and we look forward to build an even closer relationship with all the crazy and loyal Flotzilla followers out there. This new site is the brainchild of one of our fans, Joel Barrios.
